Spotlight allows an analyst to highlight an area of video, or just as easily obscure an area to hide sensitive information. The analyst selects an area with a user defined shape. The size and position of this shape can change over time to track a moving object. By darkening the outside area, SpotLight focuses attention on critical portions of the image. By applying a mosaic or blur, SpotLight hides specific sensitive information like faces and license plates. Shown below is the SpotLight Effect Editor. You have complete control over the border color, shape and size. You also have various controls for both the inside and the outside of your target area, including effects such as blur, mosaic and scatter, all of which have a variable magnitute setting.

Below are some examples of what SpotLight can do for you.

Image above shows "mosaic" masking pattern on license plate and subject's face.

Image above shows a picture in picture effect created using Spotlight on a second track of video. The SpotLight background setting was set to "transparent" and the border was set to "feather".

Image above shows how effective SpotLight can be when attempting to draw focus to a specific area. The outside setting is a "scatter" effect, one of four different effects you can select for the outside (or inside) of your SpotLight area.

Image above shows SpotLight drawing focus to a bumblebee. The soft blur effect was achieved by setting the "outside" setting to "blur", and adjusting a setting called "mix" which allows you to mix your inside or outside settings with the original video.
